The Air division has been praised by London Gatwick Airport for the high safety scores received following a recent audit as part of the Considerate Constructors Scheme. The scheme's auditors rated the Air division, responsible for the upgrade to the airport's Inter-terminal Transit System as well as the refurbishment of the International Departures Lounge, South Terminal, as operating an "exceptionally good site". They were also recognised for their work on the new Baggage System at the South Terminal and for the way in which they work in partnership with their stakeholders including London Gatwick, its airlines and handling agents.
Commenting on the award, Ray Mellee, London Gatwick's Project Director said: "As a major independent airport, we're investing nearly one billion pounds to modernise Gatwick and provide a better experience for our passengers. We will do this with our business partners, safely and responsibly. To deliver major construction projects without impacting the day-to-day operations of the busiest single runway airport in the world is a major achievement."
