Edible Avenue Comes to New Covent Garden Market

Edible Avenue Comes to New Covent Garden Market

Scores of youngsters local to our New Covent Garden Market site recently helped experts from an organisation called Edible Bus Stop to sow seeds and seedlings that will bloom into edible flowers and herbs to be used in a community market garden running along one of the site boundary walls.

The Edible Avenue will also feature white picket fences, sculptures and seating and is being created as part of the Chelsea Fringe at Nine Elms on the South Bank festival.

Developer VINCI St Modwen (VSM) decided to support the venture in response to residentsí feedback which indicated that greening the area and making the wall more attractive was a priority for the community.

Edible Bus Stop is a London-based collective which aims to improve the experience of inner city living in a creative, playful way using teams of landscape architects, garden designers and horticulturists.
