Network Rail has awarded a £98m design and build contract to Taylor Woodrow for Crossrail preparation work in West London and Berkshire.
The project will see the upgrade and refurbishment of 13 stations and one accommodation block along the route from Acton Main Line to Maidenhead.
Crossrail is Europeís largest infrastructure project. It will transform train travel across London and the south east, delivering faster journey times, boosting Londonís rail capacity by around 10% and bringing an additional 1.5 million people closer to the capitalís business centres.
The design phase will commence shortly, with the main work scheduled to take place between mid-2014 and 2018.
Taylor Woodrow is already undertaking significant projects for Crossrail, including work at Liverpool Street, Whitechapel and Tottenham Court Road stations.
