West Drayton is one of 13 locations that Taylor Woodrow is working on as part of the western section of the Crossrail route.
The West Drayton team were recently visited by sixth form students from the Harlington School in Hayes. The visit provided an overview of the Crossrail project and careers in construction.
The students were given short presentations on the improvements Crossrail will bring to London and the extent of the Crossrail West Stations project. The works at West Drayton were summarised in terms of the benefits each package will bring, with some 3D images shown of how the station will look once completed.
The health and safety involved in working on the live railway was discussed, highlighting some of the major risks.
Jess Townsend, graduate engineer based at West Drayton station, spoke about how she got into the construction industry through VINCIís sponsorship scheme and different aspects of her job. Aurore Vertueux, graduate health and safety engineer, talked about how she studied in Paris before joining VINCI, what the highlights of her role are, and her options and hopes for the future.
