The final bolt has been tightened to mark the end of track-laying for the new tram line to Beeston.
Councillor Steve Barber, who represents Beeston Rylands ward on Broxtowe Borough Council, helped engineers tighten the last bolt which was painted gold to mark the occasion at a ceremony in Chilwell High Road last week.
Councillor Barber said he was honoured to help with the tightening of the final bolt, after 13 years of campaigning for the tram to pass through Beeston.
He said: "It's going to update Beeston and put it into the 21st century. We have great access to the Queen's Medical Centre, which will be good for old people, and access to jobs in the town, which is great for young people.
Beeston will have fantastic links and can become a town that any country in the world would be proud of."
