Construction work has started at RAF Croughton, Northamptonshire, to build a new medical and dental facility, on a site leased to the US Air Force.
The 422nd US Air Force Medical Squadron will run the three-storey facility which includes treatment rooms, laboratories, offices and meeting rooms. It will service the needs of the US Air Force team who operate the communication station based at the site.
The building will be constructed to meet a DREAM Excellent rating, which VINCI Construction UK, the principle contractor, will see through.
The £6.7m project is due for completion in April 2015 and will also include the demolition of the old building once the new facility is open.
Craig Learoyd, Project Manager for VINCI Construction UK said:
“We are delighted to have been selected as the contractor to deliver RAF Croughton. Having delivered an almost identical project at RAF Alconbury, the same project team will construct a comprehensive medical and dental facility, designed to be easily accessible not just to the US Air Force personnel based here, but their families as well.”
