Tenacious young job seekers visit our Tesco Retail Park scheme

Seven young adults on an Education and Youth Services (EYS) scheme have paid a visit to the Tesco development in Wisbech, together with their Supervisor Chris Briggs.

The visit was the brainchild of Edward Coates, who made arrangements with site managers. On arrival, he explained to the visitors his role on the project and the experience he has gained.

Edward is a great inspiration for the group. Having completed the course EYS course himself, he turned up at the site armed with his CV and a heap of motivation.

It was this, coupled with the skills gained on the EYS course that helped secure him employment with groundwork contractor Acrabuild.

Chris Hopkinson and Don Grafton of the site management team provided a tour before running through the processes and planning required on a project.

Edward, Chris and Don clearly made a good impression, judging by the variety of questions asked, ranging from “what’s the best trade in the construction industry”, to how to get into management.

Funded by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA), the EYS delivers programmes for unemployed people, helping them gain the skills they need to get a job or start a new career.
