Client: Amey Cespa
In January 2015, VINCI Environment UK, a 50/50 subsidiary of VINCI Construction UK and VINCI Environnement, won the AmeyCespa contract to build the energy-from-waste unit in Allerton as part of the future multi-process waste centre of the County of North Yorkshire and City of York.
The design-build contract covers the energy-from-waste unit and related buildings. Taylor Woodrow, the civil engineering division of VINCI Construction UK, are responsible for overall site development and civil engineering for the buildings. VINCI Environnement are responsible for designing and commissioning the processes.
In July 2016, the project celebrated a major milestone with the installation of the final boiler. With both boilers in position, the team are able to close the roof above the building so that the more sensitive trades can commence preparation for commissioning the plant in 2017.
The facility is expected to be fully operational in 2018.
