Section Engineer
Taylor Woodrow are recruiting for a Section Engineer to work one of their two sections of High Speed 2 in Birmingham.  Based on the UK’s most prestigious infrastructure project, the Section Engineer will be working on diverting utilities and ground investigations in the first instance.  As the project moves into delivery the Section Engineer will be responsible for major earthworks, drainage and heavy structures including bridges and viaducts

The role of Section Engineer is to deliver the Section of Works in time. They must understand the project set-up, the roles played by different members of the team and details of the site and construction.
The Section Engineer will allocate tasks to Site Engineers and supervise the task completion. They will ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed as soon as the checks can be completed to ensure that the works are delivered to specification. They will oversee engineering requirements demanded in the delivery of a section of work or on larger projects, of a subcontractor, to meet the construction programme.

The Senior Planning Engineer will be site based on the M4 Corridor around Newport Project, supporting the Planning Manager within the Pre-Construction Planning team. They will assimilate the tender documents and produce a plan to deliver the project and communicate the plan to the Bid team.
The Senior Planning Engineer will liaise with the Estimating team and assist with the preparation of Preliminary Items; method related items; reconciliation of labour, plant and equipment as well as with the presentation of the plan and programme at the internal governance meetings including Tender Gateway 3.

Duties:

  • Ensure that all activities are planned with time allocated for HSE needs such as documentation and approvals, training, competency checks etc.

Summary of Role:
The role will be to run a small (but expanding) business unit (Materials Testing Laboratory) within VINCI Technology Centre. The laboratory is UKAS accredited so an understanding of this accreditation quality procedures would be useful / essential. The Laboratory carries out various material tests for customers around the world, including a lot of work for the Middle East.
We are keen to expand / develop our concrete testing expertise so a background in concrete mix design / technology would be beneficial. The role would be to lead two technicians who would assist with the work.
There is some practical work involved in a laboratory environment.

Summary of Role:
Reporting to the Director of one or more projects/business unit. Responsible for taking the lead in creating a culture of best practice environmental performance and excellent standards for project(s). To initiate and maintain systems to review and monitor compliance with BS EN ISO 14001 and other company/divisional standards.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Considers strategic environmental risks for the project and assess these against the project programme as part of a wider risk review
• Helps develop robust and comprehensive mitigation measures to deal with environmental risks, working collaboratively with the production team
• Produce, review and update the Project Environmental Management Plan - EMP (and associated plans) on a regular basis
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the implementation of the EMP on a regular basis
• Produce and communicate environmental risks, control measures and procedures
• Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure collaborative working relationships
• Understand the financial implications of decisions affecting environmental issues (e.g. waste costs, landfill tax etc.) and seek to ensure best financial outcome for business
• Lead a programme of environmental awareness on the project through briefings, poster campaigns and other communication methods
• Promote and actively participate in knowledge share events and lessons learned from other projects on environmental issues
• Ensure that the Project Environmental Management System is implemented and operated on site through a programme of checking and audit. Implements corrective actions and follows up any trends with the Senior Management Team

CSCS: Site CSCS required.
Qualifications: BSc, (MSc Desired)
Professional Membership: IEMA or equivalent required.
Relevant Experience: Experiencw with Ecology, Waste, Niose and Vibration. Experience working on Highway projects.
