VINCI Construction UK’s temporary works team behind the transformation of the historic Buxton Crescent into a luxury hotel and spa, are celebrating this week after the works have been highly commended by the Institution of Civil Engineers. The team attended the ICE East Midlands Gala Dinner on Friday 7 June where they were presented with a certificate as part of the Merit Awards ceremony.
The extensive programme of temporary works at the Buxton Crescent complex in Derbyshire has involved some ingenious solutions to complex challenges. This has enabled the sensitive restoration of the 230-year old buildings to their former glory, to house a new luxury hotel, spa and visitor centre.
Commenting on the award, North East Regional Director, Keith Shivers, said, “This is a well-deserved recognition for the great team effort that has been put in to overcoming the significant challenges that this project has thrown at us. I’m immensely proud of our team who dealt with these challenges in such a professional way. Well done to all involved.”
Works at the complex are progressing towards completion for later this year.
