Introducing Digital Engineering Strategy

VINCI Construction UK’s Building Division, as part of the #DigitalByDesire initiative, is launching a Digital Engineering strategy which will be used routinely on all Divisional projects.

In an increasingly fast moving and ever-changing market, digital skills are key to our future sustainability as a business. This is clear from the growing digital requirements placed on our key projects and by our key customers and Frameworks. They are setting ambitious expectations for their current and future construction partners.

This is also being driven by existing and emerging regulatory reform by the Government. This will see greater digitalisation of processes becoming a legal requirement, rather than a “nice to have”. We are planning to do things differently however not just because we have to, but because we want to.

We see significant potential in having digital engineering as the backbone of our transforming business to improve processes for the safe, efficient, profitable, defect free and sustainable delivery of projects.

As such, the Division are ensuring the following implementations across all projects:

  • Digital training plan to improve digital awareness

  • Project divided in three Digital Scenarios to ensure a correct digital delivery

  • Mandate the use of 3D models for all our projects

  • Key Supply Chain will be selected based on their knowledge and understanding of BIM principles and relevant experience

  • Use of Digital Technologies for all our projects to improve project delivery

Chris Hamer, Managing Director of VINCI Construction UK’s Building Division says that Digital Engineering is going to shape the future of how we deliver the places and spaces we create and support our business’s long-term success.
