Apprentices visit VINCI Construction UK's Paterson project
VINCI Construction UK is currently constructing a 26,874mē Paterson building for The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The project, which is based in South Manchester, invited a group of apprentices along to witness the current works on site, which consisted of the reinforced concrete frame being constructed by Cidons.
As part of the visit, the apprentices were given a detailed presentation on the project which included: -
- Temporary works
- Lifting operations
- Commercial awareness
To comply with Covid restrictions, the apprentices were split up into three separate groups for a guided tour of the site. Once the tour had finished, there was a Q&A and a debrief session with the team. This enabled the group to offer and share best practices of how these works could be implemented on their specific projects. The apprentices were also tasked with completing a detailed report of the days event; this gave the group an opportunity to record any observations they made during the tour.
Overall, the site visit provided the apprentices with the opportunity to gain an understanding of how these complex works occur and how they are managed on one of our sites.
To ensure the visits are sustained for apprentices to experience, further tours will be carried out in approximately 6-8 weeks-time.
