VINCI Construction UK’s Environment Award Winners

At the start of 2020, VINCI launched an Environmental Ambition, a public commitment to minimise our planetary impact across all of our operations. The commitment addresses the challenges we all face in tackling climate change, optimising earth's resources through the circular economy and protecting our natural environment and includes a target to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030.

Our Group launched a global competition, the VINCI Environment Awards, to recognise, reward and deploy the very best initiatives. Additionally to the regional stage of the Awards, VINCI Construction UK also organised a company-wide and divisional level of the competition.

We are pleased to announce that the following initiatives have been selected as our company-wide winners:

Acting for the Climate Technical Prize: Energy Efficiency within Temporary Site Offices
Acting for the Climate Practices Prize: Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) Sustainable Fuel
The Circular Economy Technical Prize: Low Impact Office Refurbishment
The Natural Environments Technical Prize: The Sound of Silence - Bats and Noise Disturbance
The Natural Environments Practices Prize: Prioritising the Health of the Planet
Simple and Efficient Prize: Lean Generator Setup
Best Collaboration Prize: Managing Risk with Environmental Certificates
Best Societal Impact Prize: Local Biodiversity and Community Engagement
Grand Prize: Sustainable Cleaning

We are also pleased to announce the following initiatives have been selected as the Building Division’s winners:

The Natural Environments Practices Prize: Prioritising the Health of the Planet
Simple and Efficient Prize (joint winners): Badger Tunnels and Electric Charging Point
Best Societal Impact Prize: Minimising Vehicles in a Pedestrian City Centre
Grand Prize: Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) Sustainable Fuel

Chris Hamer, Managing Director for Building said: “I have been impressed by all the entries, which support our environmental ambitions to significantly reduce the direct impact of our activities. These initiatives will help create a positive and long-lasting change in our working practices for continuous environmental improvement and change”.

All VINCI Construction UK entrants will receive an eco-gift for participating in the programme.
