VINCI Construction UK, as founding members, are excited to announce the launch of The Social Partnership Portal procured by public sector procurement specialist SCAPE.
The Social Partnership Portal is an online portal to bring social enterprises and contractors together and maximise social value within construction projects across the industry. It is powered and developed by Local Supply Chain, supported by Supply Change, the portal’s supplier verification service and backed by over twenty-five founding members including VINCI Construction UK.
Construction should have a social conscience not just by creating greener spaces but by making sure the things we buy, and the way we build, creates opportunities and strengthens communities. Key benefits include enabling greater engagement, supporting growth, boosting visibility and maximising collaboration.
Tony Raikes, Divisional Director of VINCI Construction UK, said: “Being a partner of The Social Partnership Portal will help VINCI Construction UK to align our social value commitments and will bring forward long-term change for everyone. It will bring opportunities to more diverse suppliers, breaking down barriers. We look forward to embedding these opportunities into our projects, giving the communities we work with positive change.”
Mark Robinson, group chief executive of SCAPE, said: “As a voice for the public sector and its construction partners, we can give social enterprises a voice and ensure projects are delivered for the benefit of local communities across the UK.
“Since the pandemic, a greater emphasis has been placed on procurement to deliver, not just in terms of cost, but also the value a building can add to the community through the course of its life – from construction through to operation. By sourcing and engaging social suppliers across the built environment, contractors are able to clearly evidence how they are reinvesting in local communities and helping to create jobs, promote skills and support the ongoing recovery.
“Our ambition is for the Portal to become the go-to platform for social procurement in the built environment sector, bringing together socially-focused suppliers and contractors to champion the benefits of conscientious construction. It represents an important asset in our suite of tools designed to ensure we maximise the social benefits that can be achieved through construction.”
