VINCI Facilities works in partnership with The Royal Parks to manage around 37,000 assets ranging from fountains to statues to special features, including royal memorials and 200 year-old heritage gates in Hyde Park, Richmond Park, Regent's Park, Kensington Gardens, Greenwich Park, St James’s Park, Bushy Park, Green Park and Brompton cemetery.
VINCI Facilities has also been involved in infrastructure work for the Royal Parks. This includes the Trooping the Colour ceremony for the Queen’s Birthday Parade and the Jubilee Celebrations. In 2012, VINCI Facilities supported the Royal Parks in their work with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, or LOCOG. This involved helping in the installation of power supply and back-up generation in parks where there were Olympic venue sites - Greenwich and St James’.
By far the most challenging aspect of the partnership, however, is the refurbishment of the parks’ historic features. This involves intricate stonework cleaning, statue repair and specialist heritage techniques, such as plaster restoration and gold-leaf gilding.
All work undertaken for the Royal Parks involves the close management of annual budgets through the guidelines set by the National Audit Criteria. It is incumbent on all parties to provide the financial transparency required to give confidence that the expenditure of public funds has been strictly adhered to.
