People are our greatest asset. We prove this by creating a safe, progressive and challenging environment in which our people are able to fulfil their potential.
We focus on sustainable jobs, analysing future work trends to ensure continuity of employment and development of relevant skill sets.
We operate numerous schemes to promote our employees’ professional and personal development and wellbeing. Our VINCI Academy exists to ensure that everyone gets the training they need to be the best they can.
Health, safety and quality are treated as interconnected and a shared responsibility. Everyone from the CEO down is expected to take responsibility for themselves and their colleagues and consider the impact of everything they do. This culture underpins a comprehensive health and safety strategy that keeps harm and accidents to a minimum.
At VINCI we recognise that everyone is an individual, unique and different, each possessing their own personality, background, appearance and abilities. We commit to equality of opportunity and fair treatment of all current and potential employees and encourage job applications from all.
We mentor ex-service personnel and provide them with employment opportunities, helping to smooth the transition from military to civilian employment.
Our fairness, inclusion and respect (FIR) working group oversees equality and inclusivity within our workforce. We are Leaders in Diversity, and we actively work to promote mental health wellbeing and reduce the stigma of mental ill-health. We have signed up to the Time to Change pledge and introduced mental health first aiders and wellbeing champions.

We encourage our teams to proactively contribute to the communities in which they work. It is one of the key commitments in our Manifesto.
Every VINCI employee is entitled to one day of paid leave to support the communities and causes that are close to their heart or important to their client. Each year our people devote hundreds of SOMAD (Stand Out! Make a Difference) days to initiatives ranging from volunteering at animal shelters to bike rides, treks and Christmas fairs in support of local charities.
We reach out to the communities where we work, promoting good relationships and helping to build understanding of our work and goals. Our Open Doors events, for example, encourage schoolchildren and other residents to come to our sites and engage with our projects.
We fund and support numerous schemes that promote local people’s quality of life and enhance their environment.
We actively promote local employment, supporting local SMEs and traders through our subcontractor relationship guidelines. SMEs now make up more than 75% of our trading partner pool.
We are actively involved in supporting young people through the Prince’s Trust and Construction Youth Trust, and we are partners in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. We organise special events in schools, colleges and universities encouraging young people to consider a career in construction.
The VINCI Foundation promotes social cohesion, fighting exclusion and isolation by combining the skills of our employees with financial help.
